Start with a no-use observation
Turn off taps, toilets, tanks, and water-using equipment, then photograph the meter. Continued movement shows flow, but automatic filling must be excluded before assuming a concealed pipe failure.
Isolate before opening finishes
Zone valves, pressure tests, and moisture comparisons narrow the area. Dampness may come from rain, condensation, or drainage, so one signal should not trigger destructive work.
